The Ethiopian Capital Market Administrative Tribunal (ECMAT) convened a consultative forum with judges, prosecutors, and senior officials drawn from justice, legal, and finance sector institutions in the Afar Regional State.
The forum aims to enhance participants’ understanding of the objectives of securities registration, the roles of market participants, and prohibited practices within the capital market. Discussions also underscored that security registration serves as a critical mechanism for investor protection and for ensuring market integrity.
In addition, participants were briefed that beyond preventing fraudulent and misleading activities in securities trading, the registration framework plays a vital role in promoting fair access to capital within the market.
