Ethiopian Capital Market Administrative Tribunal (ECMAT) Reviews First-Quarter performance for the 2018 Fiscal Year.

ECMAT convened a conference to evaluate the implementation of its first-quarter (Q1) plan for the 2018 fiscal year. During the quarter, notable progress has been made toward modernizing the tribunal’s Appellate proceeding process.

By integrating advanced technology, a comprehensive audio and video recording, video conferencing, system has been developed that enable all litigants and parties to attend and litigate their cases remotely from anywhere, enhancing transparency and accessibility.

In a parallel effort to expand institutional awareness, ECMAT organized a forum for 97 Justice Sector experts and officials from the Federal and Oromia regions, focusing on the principles and nature of the capital market, regulatory frameworks, the role of key institutions and prohibited trading practices.

To further extend public engagement, ECMAT consistently published weekly awareness articles in Addis Zemen and Reporter newspapers, offering valuable insights into its activities and about the capital market landscape.

The quarter also marked the completion of office ergonomics improvement reflecting the institution’s commitment to a conducive work environment.

Beyond administrative accomplishments, ECMAT actively participated in the national Green Legacy Program, planting 500 apple, guava, and other indigenous seedlings in Sululta Sub-City, Mene-Abchu Woreda, Sheger city, with full staff participation.

In a gesture of social responsibility, ECMAT also supported 25 low-income Women with two sheep each for breeding and provided one year’s worth of school supplies to 50 students.

By the end of the quarter, ECMAT successfully utilized 90.4% of its allocated budget, demonstrating effective resource management.
Concluding the conference, the Chairperson of ECMAT, Abenet Zerfu commended the Tribunal’s strong performance and emphasized the importance of maintaining this momentum in the coming quarters.
