The primary function of the Ethiopian Capital Market Administrative Tribunal (ECMAT) is to adjudicate appeals against decisions made by the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority or a person exercising the functions or powers of the Authority.

If you are a person or entity aggrieved by a decision, order, or action of ECMA, you have the right to file an appeal with us.

  • Refusal to register securities or public offerings.
  • Imposition of administrative sanctions, fines, or penalties
Who Can Appeal?

Any individual or entity who is aggrieved by the decision of EthiopianCapital Market Authority or a person exercising power and duties of the authority can appeal within 28 working days of notice of the decision. Such person can be:

  • Securities Broker, Securities Dealers, Securities Digital Sub Brokers, Investment Banks, Securities Investment Advisers, Securities Shariah Advisers, Securities Robo Advisers, Collective Investment Scheme Operators,  Crowedfunding Intermederies, Securities Market Makers, Securities Custodians,  Securities Portfolio Managers, Credit Rating Agencies, Securities Appraisal Firms,  Appointed Representatives
How to File an Appeal
  1. Determine Eligibility – Confirm that you are affected by Ethiopian capital market authority or a person who exercises the power and duties of the authority decision.
  2. Prepare Your Documents – Complete the Notice of Appeal Form and gather supporting evidence.
  3. Submit Your Appeal – File your appeal through our online portal or in person at ECMAT’s office.
  4. Pay Filing Fees – As outlined in the Filing Fee Schedule.
  5. Track Your Case – Log in to your account to monitor case progress and hearing dates.
